On Whitmonday 2024 the swarm was able to ride on Locomotive Adolfine E69-05 (1930) of the Ammergaubahn over several bridges round southeast of Munich.

Now operated by the Bayerischer Lokalbahnverein Tegernsee (Club).

And had so much fun and I remembered my youth. Then I could still travel with those beautiful Locomotives of the series E69. Same speed as the modern trains today on the Ammergau stage. It should be mentioned that they were the first Locomotives traveling on a single phase alternating current. 5.000 Volt at the beginning, then 5.500 later and now 15.000 Volt. It set the standard of all later train and train electricity systems in all Middle and Northern Europe. Even for the new ICE Bullet trains.

The era of the E69 ended more than 40 years ago.

Not to forget the fact, that the one end of the Ammergaubahn in Murnau 1988 had the first electronically controlled interlocking system. The grant to operate the trainline was issued by Wittelsbacher Prinzregent Ludwig 1897 and tests started 1900 with three-phase AC. But the system showed to be to complex. 1900 therefor steam-locomotives were deployed on the Ammergaubahn. Before they changed to single-phase AC.

Our wagon was equipped with the most streamlined fully functional heating system.

We went in style in a wagon called Donnerbüchse, (Thundertin), to be precise with Wagon BLV 3 from 1927 from the Prussian Deutsche Reichsbahn. Which has a unique feature. During the era of Steam Locomotives, it had a steam heating. But in the end, the beauty was deployed on a stage in Franconia (Falls to Gefrees) torn by Diesel Locomotives. So, they had to insert a new, streamlined heating system. One of the two old toilets was sacrificed, to create the needed space.   Hard to say what is more important. It probably depends on the weather.

And all the uptodate standards needed.

The train started and ended in Munich East.

Went to station Daisenhofen

Went across the Großhesseloher Bridge

Had a stop in Munich Main Station (flying trainstation)

As you can see, we were even able to pull ahead of some of the modern Bullet Trains ICE.

Went back over the Braunauer Eisenbahnbrücke

to Munich East.

Sheila was able to climb up into the Conductor Cabin and check out the safety on board.
