Fake; vulture = eagle; Wally = Anna; art and aviation; Diemer, Of Wilhelmine Hillern

Grand Opera Lohengrin Munich

I suggest playing this great piece of music while reading this blog. The piece was recorded by many of the worlds best opera Divas. This is just one example.

The swarm is always surprised by the role of the tiny town Oberammergau in World history. But also, in the history of arts and music. And to find links to excellent music and art.

Wilhelmine von Hillern, envant terribile, author of the popular novel “Geierwally” and successful actress partly lived in Oberammergau where she built a villa (Hillern-Schlössl”) and where she is buried.

Her famous Novel Geierwally was used in films several times. And became the story in the famous (one time hit of Alfredo Catalani) aria Ebben? Ne andrò lontanain in the opera “La Wally”. Wilhelmine also helped to work out the libretto. The very popular piece is still used in films or commercials even today. Gustav Mahler once called it the best Italian Opera. Title hero Wally in real live was a woman named Anna (Stainer-Knittel) and she had an eagle instead of a vulture.

Hillern’s son-in-law was famous painter Michael Zeno Diemer. Part of his monumental artwork can be seen in the Heimatmuseum in Oberammergau. But his most spectacular piece is in Innsbruck, Austria. It shows the III. Bergislschlacht which Tyrol won against France and Bavaria. A touristic highlight in Innsbruck, Austria.

The Diorama of the Bergislachlacht. (battle) 1809. In fact, there were 4 battles here and Napoleon and Bavaria won the last one. Tyrolian Hero Anreas Hofer was defeated and had to hide.

He, after the first successull battles, held a striking speech through the window of Hotel Goldener Adler in Innsbruck, where the swarm stayed too.

15.08.1809: “I werd enk nit verlassen, so wahr i Andrä Hofer hoass. G’sagt hab i enk’s, g’sehn habt’s mi, b’hüt enk Gott!”

But he was denunciated by the “Judas von Tirol” and executed in upper Italy by Frensh troops.
