On our Interrail Tour 1985 we also went to the Republic of Irland and I think we also went to Dublin. We entered with the Ferry from Wales. I remember I saw many cars with extra locks blocking the steering wheels. The trains in Ireland at that time were slow and bumpy. At one time the engine broke down and we had to wait a while for a new one to take over. One time we stayed in a youth which was put up in a really old defence tower without any comfort far out in the country. Boy was it cold. But a great experience. We also visited a cave, I can’t remember the name though. but it might be Dunmore Cave Close to Kilkenny.
