In the year 2004 short before Christmas we visited Sri Lanka in the Indian Ocean. We were lucky as we left the Country only about 10 days before the Zunami originating in Indonesia struck the coastlines all over Asia and also severely the coast where we stayed.

Next to the wonderful coast we also visited the town of Kandy with the temple of the Tooth and the elephant orphanage in the area. We saw a goanna in the hotel garden accompanied and treated with respect by security, pepper plants and heard a spectacular concert of frogs in the evening. Visiting friends near by I also learned. that wine and champain is produced on the island, the grapes though are imported.
