Weihenlinden

The Wall
Högling 1000 year old Lime Tree

Weihenlinden is one of the many pilgrimage churches in Bavaria. After taking this picture I later noticed a odd smell in the car. The explanation soon became clear: the farmer just recently spread manure on the field (bavarian: da Baur hat grad g‘ odelt)

The discovery of a healing spring („Marienquelle“) led to the building of this new church „Weihenlinden“ in the year 1643-1645. There is a tap where you can pour water for free and I saw locals filling dozens of bottles.  The water is considered a medicine for eye sicknesses and other diseases and wonders are said to have happened here as panals along the walls show. The spring and church was given to monastary Weyarn by Wittelbacher Kurfürst (elector) Maximilian I. 1650. The Event is documented with a painting on a panel on the wall of the church.
