The Memorial reminds of the famous Portugese explores, like Bartolomeus Dias who as first European surrounded the sothern tip of Africa with the Cape Of Good Hope.

About 1989 Sheila, a friend from the USA and I went to Portugal. We rented a car and drove quite ab bit through this nice country at the western edge of Europe. We saw antique roman buildings, fascinating big churches, cork oak trees, the Atlantic Ocean and of course visited the city Lisbon. Sheila enjoyed the old trolleys a lot which roam through the city up and down the hills. We also got in a quite expensive fish dinner rip off, but at least the fish was excellent. We also visited pilgrimage site Fatima.
