After Sheila and I stranded in Halle some years ago on our way throuth the Zone, due to problems with the bus another stop caused by Problems with the Train was used by Grisella to shoot a picture here.
The Roter Turm (Red Tower) in Halle, built 1418-1506 is the main site of the town of Halle (Saale). On the Market Place, now directly attached at the Red Tower there is also a statue of the “Roland”. The creation of the Hallischen Roland dates back until 1161 but statue was moved, barred, “escaped”, burned and was recurved in stone later. (webcam)
The dragons of this sculpture take good care of their valuable possession, a golden bowl.
Fortunately Jack Blackbird did not join this trip.
