Sheila, having seen several impressive dams like the Hoover Dam close to Las Vegas, USA, of course also had to visit Germany’s highest rockfill dam Talsperre Schmalwasser. There are hikes to Oberhof or bicycle routes over the Thuringian forest. We only took a short walk from the other side. The dam is quite impressive but not too busy with tourists.
