Atlas at the most important temple in Pompeji, the Apollo temple.
Pompeji Close to Napoli was destroyed by a well documented outbreak of Mount Vesuvius 79 bc. and burried under volcanic ashes which well preserved the antique sites and also the bodies and skeletons of the killed, horrified people living there at that time. Many died in the sudden pyroclastical cloud, death came fast. But it left an excellent archeological site. (tempels, theaters, statues, spas, brothels with advertisment panels)
